Will It Hurt?

This is, without a doubt, the most common question of all. And the answer is yes.

When it comes to pain, there are three things you have to keep in mind.

- Not all piercings feel the same. It's impossible to say that every piercing hurts or that none of them do, because different parts of your body will feel different being pierced. Some parts are more sensitive than others, so where you get it will make a big difference.
- Not everyone feels the same amount of pain, or in the same places. It's always hard for us to tell you if the piercing will hurt you; we can only tell you if it hurt us. Everyone is different. For example, my co-worker and I are complete opposites when it comes to pain -- she thought her nostril was quite painful and that her microdermal was almost painless. I barely felt my nostrils and found getting my microdermal quite uncomfortable. Only you know your body and what parts of it are most sensitive to pain.
- A piercing is over in seconds. Even if you do find it painful, it's over before you can say "ouch".

How high is the risk of infection?

Accepted Answer

Infection is highly unlikely and usually only occurs due to inappropriate aftercare. Strictly follow the aftercare regime that has been provided by your professional piercing salon to avoid infection. Be sure to only use a professional piercing salon. Piercings must only be performed in a clean environment with sterile equipment.

What do I do if I get a piercing bump/keloid?

Girls especially appreciate cute and dainty piercings -- a tiny bead on a lip stud or a little jewel in a nostril. More times than I can count, I've been asked how small the starter jewelry can be.

As much as you may hate it, it has to be a little big to begin with. The reason for this is that a lot of piercings swell at first -- sometimes just a little, and sometimes a lot! That's why people talk funny after they get their tongue pierced; it's not because it hurt, it's because it's swollen. If you put a tiny bead or really short barbell in your new piercing and it swells up, your skin can literally swallow the jewelry, and you can only imagine how great it feels getting that out! It's worth having a bulkier piece of jewelry for a couple of weeks to avoid the pain of a too-small piece.

Can you get pierced with your own Jewellery?

No, we cannot use Jewellery that you provide as we cannot say if it’s sterile or what metals they may contain. We can order the jewelry you want which only takes 1 day to arrive. We also stock a large variety of jewelry in-store.

Question 6

Which metal is safest and best to use?

Accepted Answer

The most recommended metals are Titanium, Niobium and Bioplast or a surgical implantation grade stainless steel referred to as 316L. Other options include Gold which should be higher than 14 carats for first piercings. Never use silver, gold plated, brass, bronze or copper. We recommend to only buy your jewelry at a professional piercing salon and refrain from buying jewelry online as you can never be sure what materials they might contain, especially if you are prone to allergic reactions.

How do I prepare myself for a piercing?

Plan ahead and book an appointment with us. We recommend getting your piercing first thing in the morning after a nice breakfast. If you feel unwell or are sick please reschedule your appointment and contact your salon immediately. Being sick may greatly affect your healing ability.

Question 8

Do I need to make an appointment for piercings or tattoos ?

There is no need to make an appointment for piercings as there are always two piercers here every day. For Tattoos you will need an appointment, we don’t normally take walk-ins unless there are cancellations or space in the diary – keep an eye on social media for cancellations

How soon after my piercing can I take the jewellery out and not lose the hole?

Usually the initial healing time for a piercing takes around 2-3 week and plays and important part in sealing the piercing hence minimising the chance of infection. During the second healing phase, new skin develops which toughens and thickens, this will take another 6-8 weeks. After the second healing phase, the jewellery may be removed for a certain amount of time. However, it is important to know that the piercing hole may shrink to a certain extent. Do not force the jewellery into a shrunken piercing hole, instead, contact your piercing salon.

Yes, we have two Private piercing rooms so you don’t have to sit in front of other customers like some studios.
